Notice: PMI Melbourne Chapter 2012 Board of Directors Election

PMI Melbourne Chapter announced the start of its 2012 Board of Directors Election with a call for nominations for Candidates on 22 November 2011.   PMI Melbourne Chapter is a not-for-profit, member-driven organisation responsible for the day-to-day management of the Chapter.  We are seeking Director Candidates for six open positions on our 2012 Board of Directors. Directors usually serve for two years.

Nominations

PMI Melbourne Chapter seeks members with an interest in managing the Chapter to join its Board of Directors. PMI Melbourne Chapter's Nominations Committee is accepting nominations from 28 November 2011 to 5:00 pm Melbourne time on 27 January 2012. The announcement of newly appointed Directors will be made at the Chapter’s Annual General Meeting which is currently scheduled to be held on 27 March 2012. The allocation of all Directors to portfolios of responsibility is made by the Board usually at its first meeting after the AGM.

To submit a nomination, please Word Document download the Nomination form from the Chapter’s website and submit it to the Nominations Committee at nominations@melbourne.pmi.org.au.

The Nominations Committee comprises the following volunteers who act independently of the current Board. There may be additional members of the committee. They are

What does a board member do?
PMI Melbourne Chapter follows PMI’s Policy Manual for PMI Chapters, and as an Incorporated Association in Victoria is subject to the Associations Incorporation Act 1981 and the Chapter Rules.  Prospective Directors are expected to have read these documents.

Each Director will be accountable to the members of the Chapter.  He or she is involved in all aspects of the management and governance of PMI Melbourne Chapter and participates in the life and development of the Chapter to achieve its mission statement: “To establish a strong and vigorous Chapter in Melbourne and to address the specific needs of project management in the State of Victoria by advancing the objectives of the Project Management Institute (PMI).”

This is an opportunity to gain valuable experience and give something back to your profession through your local Chapter. You may also earn Category E PDUs as an elected volunteer Director of the Board and attend local or international project management conferences.

All Board positions are voluntary and require varying amounts of time to fulfil the governance duties. They can typically require up to approximately 15-20 hours per month. Directors are expected to attend monthly Board meetings.

Board of Directors Election:
If there are more nominations than open 2012 Board positions, PMI Melbourne Chapter Members shall elect Directors by an online ballot.
